You should always seek the advice of a licensed and insured installer who has experience in installing Travertine, as they are the only ones who can offer you the most relevant installation advice for your project and geographical area.
Travertine Installation
Travertine Paver Dry-Set Installation:
All projects using Travertine should be installed with dry-set Travertine pavers sydney. Because they can be dry-set, Travertine are easier to install than most other paving materials. The tiles can be easily laid and replaced if necessary.

1. Compact the soil and make sure that the soil is moist enough. Too wet or too dry soil may not compact properly.
2. Create a border around the project area using 6*12 Pavers in a soldier-course pattern. Due to the effect of freezes and thaws on Travertine, Travertine Tile recommends that the border be secured with FlexBond (or similar). Cold climate travertine installation and freeze thaw travertine installation are both best performed by dry set.
3. In addition to being easy to install and easy to repair if necessary, travertine can be dry set (see charts below).
4. Place 6"-8" of crushed limestone (or CA6) on top of the compacted soil sub-base and compact in layers. As crushed limestone has sharp edges, it fits snugly together. Moreover, limestone will provide solid support for the travertine (without it shifting) and aid the drainage. Add the limestone in two to three layers. Compact the limestone with a compactor after each layer has been lifted. Finish with 1 2" sand. Then you can begin laying the Travertine. It is possible to place a geotextile on top of compacted soil if the site the project is being built on has drainage issues.
5. The same blades and tools that are used to cut brick pavers or other natural stones can be used to cut Travertine. Any diamond blade should be sufficient.
5. Travertine can be mud-set on existing concrete surfaces. During freeze-thaw cycles, FlexBond adhesive should be used when mud-setting pavers in northern states.

Travertine Paver and Travertine Tile Mud-Set Installation:
1. Travertine and Travertine Tiles can be mud-set just like other types of tiles and natural stone.
2. Pavers and Tiles should be removed from the crates before the installation process begins, and they should be arranged in place. Natural stone requires that materials from different palettes be blended together in order to achieve a smooth transition from one pallet to another.
3. Prepare the surface where the travertine or tiles will be installed. Remove all existing material and remove all old adhesive residue from the surface.
4. Use Flexbond (or similar) on the subfloor. Follow it up with using a 1” notch trowel to spread the concrete or mortar mix underneath (the tile). Use sanded grout and apply another thin layer of FlexBond to secure the tile.
5. Use a sledgehammer to secure the Travertine Tiles or Pavers in place.
6. Grout can be applied between the joints once the Pavers are laid. It is necessary to remove excess grout from the joints and clean them with a damp sponge.
7. Let the Pavers or Tiles dry thoroughly.

Travertine Pool Coping Installation:
1. In curved pools or pools with kidney-shaped edges, the larger travertine pool coping, such as 12"x12" and 12"x24", should be used.
1. Lay out the Travertine Pool Coping and mark it to ensure it perfectly fits the shape of your pool.
2. Diamond blade saw is used to cut the Travertine Pool Coping.
3. FlexBond (mud-set) the Travertine Pool Coping with a minimum of 1" of mortar.
You might want to sand the edges of the Pool Coping if you have to cut them.

Travertine Paver Driveway Installation:
This small-sized paver is perfect for driveways because it is resistant to cracking from the weight of a vehicle. The larger sizes, especially the French Pattern, cannot be used on driveways.
Mud-set:
4. Excavate the area and compact the soil.
5. Spread crushed limestone (3” — 4” is sufficient).
6. Pour a 4” concrete slab.
7. From the edge of the driveway inward, apply the FlexBond mortar and lay the Travertine Pavers.
Sand-set:
8. Excavate the area and compact the soil.
9. Spread limestone crushed over the ground (4” — 5” is sufficient). Travertine will stay in place over time (without shifting) and will drain properly with a crushed limestone foundation.
10. Lay a 1” — 2” layer of concrete sand on top of the crushed limestone base.
11. Set the driveway edge with concrete slab curbs, and attach edging with plastic or metal.
12. For better support, make sure the pavers are as snug as possible.
13. Fill the joints in with polymeric sand.
